April 2017 - Temporary reprieve from Making Tax Digital

The Government confirms that the ‘controversial’ policy Making Tax Digital has been dropped from the Finance Bill.

This will come as a welcome relief to the many thousands of businesses both large and small, as well as the self-employed, who were facing the prospect of having to file multiple tax returns each year.

However this is only a reprieve, as the Government have stated their commitment to the digital future of the tax system.

This was merely one of 72 out of 135 clauses dropped from the bill as a consequence of the recent snap election announcement and the now limited time to debate the measures.

Changes to IR35 within the Public Sector remain intact though, so if you supply your services as a PSC contractor or if you are an agency, contact us if you would like further information on how we can help.
